HOW TO: Calculate Medical Office Space
Assess the type of program you will need when fully operational and include number of exam rooms, restrooms, triage, lab area, break room, reception, waiting room (possibly sick and well), consultation room, provider offices, storage, and administration offices. Calculate the square footage of each of these rooms in an ideal world and add about 30-35% extra to account for hallways, shared spaces, etc.
HOW TO: Calculate Dental Office Space
Count how many operatories you will need when fully operational. A good rule of thumb for general dental offices is approximately 400 square feet per operatory. This formula will change for certain specialties or open bay concepts.
